HEAD CHEF ROLE About the role We're on the hunt for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen at the intimate, 30-40 seat café and bistro in a renowned suburb of Sydney. This is a unique opportunity for someone seeking work-life balance while having full autonomy in the kitchen. If you love creating simple, fresh, and innovative dishes with high quality ingredients in the French tradition with a twist, this is the role for you! Responsibilities • Design and execute menus that reflect the signature French bistro style with a twist. • Lead kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and high-quality standards. • Oversee stock control, food costs, and supplier relationships to maintain profitability. • Manage and mentor a small team, fostering a positive and professional work environment. • Ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations. • Work closely with the front-of-house team to deliver a seamless dining experience. About you • 3-5 years of experience in a Head Chef or senior kitchen role. • French or European culinary techniques—no Michelin stars required, just great food! • Professional attitude with a hands-on approach. • Organised, clean, and efficient—able to thrive in a small kitchen. • Business-minded, with an understanding of food and labour costs. • Long tenure in past roles—this is for someone committed to the industry. RESTAURANT MANAGER About the role We're looking for a dynamic and driven Restaurant Manager to take full ownership of a well-loved bistro and café, leading both the kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver an exceptional dining experience. This is more than just a hands-on role—it's an opportunity to shape the restaurant's vision, refine service standards, and create a welcoming atmosphere for an affluent clientele in one of Sydney's most prestigious suburbs. If you have a deep appreciation for French cuisine and wine, excel at team leadership, and take pride in crafting memorable guest experiences, this role is for you. Responsibilities • Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth service in a small, fast-paced venue. • Lead and support the kitchen and front of house team, creating a warm and professional work environment. • Demonstrate strong business acumen and create upselling opportunities. • Deliver an outstanding guest experience, building strong relationships with customers. • Work closely with the kitchen team to maintain menu consistency and quality. • Provide expert wine and food recommendations, enhancing the dining experience. About you • Fluent in English with a natural ability to connect with people. • Strong understanding of French cuisine and wine, French background preferred but not essential. • 10+ years of experience in restaurant management, with a strong customer service focus. • Warm, personable, and empathetic—able to engage with an upscale clientele. • Hands-on and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership over the role. • WSET certification or strong wine knowledge (not a sommelier, but confident in recommendations). • Strong business acumen with the ability to upsell and maximize revenue. • Experience in operations and rostering.
